Visitors flying into Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport will find that there is a huge supply of taxis, shuttle buses and rental cars available to get into the city centre. Atlanta is like the majority of large American cities in that it is advisable to rent a car to get around. Atlanta is very much a car centric city. There are a huge number of parking metres throughout the city which allow you to park for up to two hours and a parking garages charge an average of $10 for all day parking. There is also free parking available outside the majority of shopping centres. Atlanta is a city of neighbourhoods and if you want to explore the city in full it can be quite difficult to do this on foot. Each neighbourhood has its own distinct quality so it is recommended that to explore each section properly a rental car is required. The rail system in Atlanta is up to date and efficient. The MARTA rapid transit line was constructed in 1980 and operates the railway and bus network throughout th city. Public transport is inexpensive, all fares cost $1.75. The Greyhound bus system also links Atlanta to New York, Miami, Washington DC and New Orleans
