Atlanta Braves:
Atlanta is also famed for its sports teams. Major league Basketball is extremely popular in the US and Atlanta is home to one of the most important teams in the baseball League; the Atlanta Braves. The team however did not originate in Atlanta, originally the Atlanta Braves were based in Boston under the name the Boston Red Stockings. The team came into existence in 1871. Another name change came bout in 1883, the Red stockings became the Bean Eaters and in 1912 the team were renamed the braves. During the first part of the 20th century the team was very popular, winning the World Series four times. When support for the team began to dwindle they were moved on to Milwaukee in 1952 and then again in 1966 when the team were moved to Atlanta. It was from this point that the success of the team began to skyrocket. The team has been blessed with extraordinary players over the years including Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth . Ted Turner purchased the Braves in 1976 and during the 1990's the team won the World Series and ten executive divisional pennants. The Braves entered the history books when they won the World Series in 1991 after finishing with the worst result in the League the year before. The team is now world renowned as the oldest continuosly running baseball team in Major League Baseball. The Braves are based on 755 Hank Aarin drive and the Ivan Allen Jr Barves Museum and Hall of fame is well worth checking out.
