Coca- Cola:
Atlanta is the birthplace of the world's most popular soft drink. Coca Cola was invented by John S Pemberton in 1886. The drink was originally intended as a patent medicine, as it was believed at the time that carbonated water was good for the health. It was extremely popular and was sold for just five cents per glass. However, the prohibition laws at the time led to it being launched as a soft drink. The first sale of Coca Cola ever made was at Jacobs pharmacy in Atlanta on the 8th of May 1886. The drink that we know today only became possible because of the sale of the company to Asa Griggs Chandler in 1887. Chandler firmly believed that he could sell the drink to a mass market across the United States. He began an aggressive marketing campaign and that led to the huge commercial success of Coca Cola that we see today. The Coca Cola trade mark has become a world wide phenomenon. It has evoked huge brand loyalty. When Coca Cola was given free to the soldiers during World War 2, it was advertised as a patriotic drink and in today's society the majority of consumers have maintained this brand loyalty.
